La valeur économique des eaux souterraines: état de la question et exemple d’estimation pour le nord de Montréal

The underground water situation in Quebec, particularly in areas north of Montreal, is distinguished by poorly defined usage rights and by a price which is practically nothing. Among other findings, this study shows that the economic value for the underground water resources in the area north of Montreal is $250 million. At the dawn of a new Quebec water management policy, a determination of the real value of a natural resource like underground water is a prerequisite for any strategic choice regarding the use and conservation of such a community resource.
