The Montreal Economic Institute presents the 2012 Economic Education Prize

Competition

Each year, The Economic Education Prize rewards the work of a journalist (reporter or columnist) who has contributed to a better public understanding of the economic analysis of a public policy issue.

Eligibility

Eligibility extends to any journalist working for a newspaper, magazine, radio or TV show, or website well-established in Canada, as well as to any regular columnist in these media or to any freelance journalist who contributes regularly to them. The MEI's executives can also invite candidates to participate.

Candidates must submit one of their articles or reports carried in one of the media mentioned in the previous paragraph, in English or French.

Members of the selection committee, as well as directors, employees and associate researchers of the MEI, are not eligible.

Prizes

Two prizes worth $3,000 each will be awarded: one for the best article or report in English, and one for the best article or report in French. No candidate may win both prizes.

Selection committee and deadlines

The selection committee will consist of the president and the vice president of the MEI as well as an outside adviser. The selection committee's choice will be final and irrevocable. Candidates taking part in the competition accept the selection process and its results.
